frozen moon hangs mistily above
i put out my hand to touch...
black velvet, soft and shiny
across eyes trying to catch
a glimmer of light
from where i sat...
a narrow staircase
confusing me...
leading to infinity
not knowing the top from where i sat
my view is inverted
my thoughts distorted
the world is unfolding...
but maybe not as it should.

It's funny, but as I was reading this, I was thinking how wonderfully simplistic the thoughts flowed but then my eyes were cast upon those closing lines...
my view is inverted
my thoughts distorted
the world is unfolding...
but maybe not as it should
And that cinched the whole totality of the strength in this piece. Thank you for entering my contest and good luck!
