One So Young

As the days are numbered

Time has elapsed

Instability of life

Heart and spirit collapse

 Laughter is lost

Through Soaring Emotion

Tears of sadness

With unlikely potion

 Hourglass shattered

The Sands of departure

A life of memories

Innocent and immature

 Here at this hour

Beyond reason and doubt

A life so fragile

Been lost and forced out

I

Understand

 One so young

Author notes

LadyLeviathan

Here is a backround to this poem. I have a painting that sits on my wall. It is titled one so young. The artist is my uncle Arthur Arturo Pina. Who painted words to which no one understood. "ONE SO YOUNG" he painted on his death bed due to aids. He was only 25 years old. After years of reading outloud the words on my wall, I realize he was crying for help. Why did he have to die at such a young age? ONE SO YOUNG. To this day the painting sits on my wall...and tears still come to my eyes when I read it.

"One so young
Does anyone care?
One so young
Do we understand
One so young
Please god
I am one so young"

Arthur Auturo Pina

Very sad, and very emotional, yes that is such a young age to lose his life. Many times people ignore the cries of others, until it is too late, but you have grown from this experience, and maybe have now learned to hear the crys of the wounded more...excellent write, beautiful dedication, and ~blessings to you~

    Tragic

Loved the poem, even though it made me sad to think of, however, that is life and one of my neighbors died of AIDS, so I know the feeling. He was young too.

    Inspiring.

To think what else your young uncle would have accomplished in his short life. You have given meaning to his words so that others my understand and draw inspiration from them.
