I Picked A Loser

I could never understand
why?
she sat around reading
Harlequin day and night

unwashed pots idle
in the sink,
laundries not done

Oprah’s on!

talking about how
to put sparks
back into your love life

with unkempt hair,
lounging in her night coat

She asks me?

'would you mind stopping off
at the market?
...to pick up some
things I need'

I murmur
        in reply,

‘Would you prefer
the new issue of harlequin,
  or
        the author herself?’

Ahh, the sumptuous flavor of bitterness...I hope this is not a personal poem, because I feel sorry for the author.

Nice craft...not presumptuous, and I honestly cannot think of a negative thing to say about this poem--other than I would like more imagery and/or metaphor.

But none the less, the best poem I have come across in my contest thus far.

Weird. I liked it. Weird love, weird depiction of day after day's issues, weird anthem for the lovers of the different.

Exsqueeze me.. but some of them happen to have variety. Sometimes..yes, sometimes.. the men don't hold back quite as long.. or they aren't a farm hand..sometimes, they drive SUVs..or something.. but, I just read the back of those kinds of novels.. I usually can't pry the pages apart to read em anyway.

Oh come on! - straight women have to relax 90% of the time, to be able to put up with men the other 10%
