This mantra that they say to me
A chant that follows lyrically
into itself
again and again
I can't be with you
we're just friends
Clapping my hands in time with your words
choking myself
because again it occurs
The same thing, don't pretend
You can't be with me
"we're just friends"
Sing songy voice
even sometimes
a cackling whisper
I softly cry
holding on to my every limb
We can't be
we're only friends
