The Madness in Fear

I hid... I hid inside
no doors but a face
that executes
at impulse.

A fear of the unknown
that clones and shell-
shocks every cell, that
crumbles ideals and destroys
beliefs. A tower that bends and
cracks, and leaves breathless
for fear of dying.

To give arms and legs to
an intangible feeling without
reason, but to find myself shaking of
what I can not see, of what might
happen...of change.

Where nights no longer
belong to sleep, but weeps
at the madness that trails
a weakened mind;
a monster created from
insecurities, and the smell
of hell it leaves behind.

    Wow. A Gripper!

Fear truly can cripple and we are so afraid of what we don't know or fully understand.

Your first stanza grips the reader and doesn't let go. Wonderfully presented, this is a powerful piece.

Where nights no longer belong to sleep, but weeps... Wonderful subtle inner rhyme here that keeps the flow flawless and makes the reader slide into the next line with ease.

Superb poem. I enjoyed this a great deal. Very real life poetry. ~Pamela

Another thoughtful write. Theme is universal I think. I can certainly relate to it. Love your imagery and wording. That last line has a punch.
