A Silver Rose

A silver rose
lay in the dark
where no one and
everyone can
appreciate it's
perfection

Unmitigated thorns
poised upon the stem,
captivating the gazes
of the the weak will
and greedy

All wanting to
capture the flawless
ideals of beauty

Fighting their way
through self dreams,
stifling the essence
of them selves to
achieve the society
based dream of a
Silver Rose

This speaks so eloquently of the attitude of today's society. Like so many, all we see is the thorns, the barriers, the ugly under belly. We miss the true beauty found when we forage past the thorns to the top of the stem where we find the silver rose. Thank you for entering and sharing your work.
