Very cute. I agree; I could never buy betas because I could not keep them alone. It is a sad life.

    Thank you for sharing.

At one time one of the EX's ka-zillion hobbies was beta-fish. Now you have to realize, when the EX had a new hobby, it meant 50 books on how to raise and train beta-fish, special little breeding bowls where they could bubble and multiply and 500 of those little glass bell-jars around the room. Thank goodness they only bubbled, but never multiplied!

Enjoyed the read of your haiku!

P.S.: Aren't they fun to torment with a hand-mirror though? I love watching them puff-up for battle by their own reflection. I know it's mean, but I figured it was beta-exercise...Things can get lonely and lazy in 8-ounces of swimming space.

      Thanks for reading.
A betta or siamese fighting fish is a colorful tropical fish with long, flowing fins. The males can't be kept together because they will kill each other. They are often agressive to other aquarium fishes. You find rows and rows of them in little plastic cups for sale for less than $4 each. They will live in the little cup- it's said that they can survive in a hoof print puddle- but seeing them alone makes me sad.
Again, thanks for reading and congradulations on the haiku/tanks contest.
