There's a light in me
And it's shining bright
I can almost touch the sky
But there are others
Trying to drown me out
And break my wings, not let me fly
But they don't matter
'Cause I've got my friends
Who stick with me throughout the fight
Some people force me down
But those who raise me up
Are people who love me, make sure everything's all right
I know I can trust them
Until the very end
And I want to thank them
For being my friends.
Author notes
Boredom. I heard the first three lines in a movie called "Raise Your Voice" and it kinda spawned this.
Not one of my best pieces, but...Oh well.

How endearing! I'm sure the people who love you know of your gratitude. This reminds me to be thankful for my friends, and I think I ought to tell them so. It's very refreshing to see light in the world when it seems so dark. Good job!

I think this a very good poem. People can relate to it and connect with the feelings behind it. Great friends are hard to come by and knowing that you know some makes the poem even more, cause not just others but yourself can connect with what you wrote.
Very good! Keep it up! -
