Beach Picture Background

I've always loved the beach,
to walk along the beauteous sand,
in a dress I think is best,
the wind lifting the skirt
as sea water sprays my legs
and the roar drives the world away.

Just me and the ocean,
the Heavens above,
not one living soul to bother
except the gulls that fly above
searching for that stray foolish whale
that may attempt to beach itself.

Why do whales do that
knowing the gulls will wait
until their rotting starts
and I will walk past
as if I am ignoring it,
but I'm not;
who could possibly do that?

But my picture taken at the beach
with my favorite dress on,
this will be my favorite picture,
because the gulls decided to stay
with the whale.

I like your take on this a lot! I know what you mean about writing, I get afraid after a while that I won't be able to write anymore. The poem is quite good. I like what you have done with the picture in the border and the background.

Thank you, Joyce. I wasn't happy about the line in the background, but I still do my experimenting.

I used to spend hours at the beach, reading a book, as my boys played with the biggest sandbox ever. The water was a bonus, when the sun got too hot.
Your reminiscence rambles like a seaside saunter. Sights and sounds bring up the most varied of thoughts. Good luck sweets!

My Dear Margaret, I do love the memories I have of the beaches of the northwest coast. That was also where Joe and I took Jarod for a short camping trip. Since I'm not much for camping, it turned out to be a short trip. I do still love the beach, however, and I can't wait to be back there again. Thank you, Sweets. Hugs, Patricia

Thanks, Brenda. I'd also love a beach house. The roar of the sea, the spray from it, the beauty of the beach itself...I just love it. Someday I'll be there again, and I'll die a happy woman. Hugs, Patricia

Stunning work Sis, both graphical and poetic. The photo is a perfect piece, very creative in it's own right, great composition, excellent foreground detail. The words just bring the whole thing to life, well done you, proud of you Sis, way proud.

You have presented us with a double delight here my dear sister. Not only is the background an artist's rendering of beauty, but your words pleasingly fall from the lips as well. Good luck in the contest!

Thanks, Sis. It's just good to know I can still write. I've been playing with backgrounds, and I believe it has hurt my writing. This was a good picture to get my mind going again. Hugs, Patricia

The poem is an interesting take on the picture, background did not necessarily need to incorporate the image on contest page. Please add your name to author notes so I can check against group member list.
