He wasn't born a visionary.
Everything he was, and everything he dared to be, he'd made himself.
Alone in his room, he always felt so proud...
So undeniably right...
He watched as the world segregated itself.
Locking themselves in their own respective cages
Within the titles they so lovingly allowed themselves...
It wasn't supposed to be him.
Not him.
He was supposed to fly.
He was supposed to dream, and dare to touch the sky...
But the world became smaller...
And he became sadly aware of just how filled in the blank spaces on the map really were...
So he retreated into the shuffle of the average and the defeated.
Because he never rose above...
And nobody dreams to touch the sky anymore
Author notes
Its just a fact of life...
I didnt choose one of the options.
None of them appealed to me.

Very sad and, unfortunately, very true. I related to this easily and actually felt a bit depressed at the end. I hope you don't get disqualified because this one is really good.

This is amazing. I love the way you portrayed this and put the last line all by itself. Great write!

Good poem, but I don't understand why you would enter my contest if none of the options appealed to you. I'm not goin to DQ you because it's not fair in my eyes. All entries deserve a chance. I did enjoy the concept of your poem and your honesty on how you believe nobody dreams to touch the sky anymore. That's your own outlook on life and your own opinion. I'm not agreeing nor disagreeing with you. I respect your opinion. Thanks for entering and good luck

I read this and I wonder ...
if this marginality is not epidemic. But none really wants to be honest anymore. And say it out. You know who you are, and you are no coward.
In solo flight, you are a true star.
