Off to High School
Oh what fun
Freshmen Year
Has just begun
Locked in the lockers
Thrown in trashcans
Stabbed and poked at
With hard music stands
These stories I’ve heard
From big brother Stew
He said if I take shop class
I’ll have my nose filled with glue
How did anyone survive
Such a horrid place
While in foods purple Jell-O
Is thrown at your face
Not to mention the secret essay
Due on the first day of class
Ten pages, size two font
And you need it to pass
Eight hours of homework
Need to be done every night
And you better make sure
To get all answers right
Or to detention you’ll go
Your heart filled with doubt
Because all who’ve gone in
Have never come out

Welcome to Allpoetry and thank you for entering!
This made me giggle. Just the cliches in the piece were really effective and I appreciated the ideas behind it.
Good luck and thanks for entering

Oh it does seem daunting, but it is also the best time of your life (yes really). Nice rhyming and I loved the angst and confusion I read. Welcome to AP and enjoy every single moment you spend here.

This is cute. Oh the horrors of the first day of school, especially when it is the first day of High School. This made me chuckle. Nice flow and rhyme.
I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.
God Bless

The saddest part of school is that each one of us experience if differently and for some there are just no good memories.
Nice write. Well done.
Let the ink flow and your fingers dance

Welcome to AllPoetry
You definately bring back some memories. I remember hearing all those scary stories myself. Of course, it was never as bad as all that and I came to learn that older kids just enjoy scaring the crap out of ya.
Just remember, that obviously someone lived through it or we wouldn't be sitting through those long and tedious graduation ceremonies every year
Thanks for your entry and best of luck in the contest.

Hi Black Armada
What a cute and witty write
I am thankful I never had to go through anything like that when I started high school, I hid behind my big sister as much as possible
Best of luck in the contest
Stay safe
