Aware

I hear the voice of reason, it's whispering to me.
And yet if I ignore it I know I will be free.
For I believe in Angels and spiritual things.
Yes, they are all around me some with and without wings.

I feel them in the daylight, I see them in the night.
For when I'm feeling lonely, they make my heart take flight.
Another realm awaits me when I sleep in my bed.
I need not wait forever or until I am dead.

The depth of understanding is living in my soul.
We all make up the spirit that's universally whole.
No books could ever teach me what I know to be true.
Maybe I cannot prove it, but I'll give you all a clue.

Be open to the presence of beings close at hand.
They'll be there if you ask them but not if you demand.
Push back the voice of reason for what I say is real.
Don't think, but just be open and you will truly feel.

thank you for sharing your experience of openness and welcoming awareness with us ... it reminds me very much of the following : a few years back, I was questioning the "existence" of angels, certain spiritual idols I worshipped as well as my own soul ...
so I sat down to meditate ... after a while, I entered a state of awareness without manifestation ... which was a precious revelation and lesson about the nature of phenomena and the impermanence of the manifest world ...
I realized that "I" was essentially made of the same "emptiness" ... although ego keeps up the belief that "I" am somebody, and there are separated "others" out there ... diving into the essential nature of "me" and my most cherished spiritual guides has taught me and still teaches me detachment towards the "different forms" of the "formless One" ... and to behold the inherent Unity dwelling in the heart of all ...

This is very good, the tone and content and thought. To me, poetry is all about fleeting revelations we have about the 'real' in moments of a heightened sensitivity...These lines have it, if I may say so. A little wordy, however...Work to achieve more subtility and you have a great poem here.

Very nice,it strange to read a poem about this, people tend to make it into a horror...but you put reason in the subject.
    Thank you for sharing!

This is very true , its says in The Bible , That our angels are there to minister to us .
The really great part about this poem is the fact that you acknowlege that angels could be just a person , a random person . I believe that!
    Great Poem!

    Wonderful

I really enjoyed the content, the rhyme and rhythm of this piece. It made me feel so peaceful and good about myself. The words flow effortlessly, as if you were speaking normally but with such effect.

It is wonderful poem. I did, however, notice that the word "forever" on the last line in the second stanza was not altogether. I would connect "for" and "ever". And also, on the last line of the third stanza, I would suggest that you might be giving us "all a clue" after you say "I'll give you". I would insert the word "all" there, again, just for effect, as you are speaking to all those of us who read this piece. I think it would add more harmony to the content. I hope you do not think that I am being too harsh or judgemental: I am trying to be helpful. Other than those few pointers, I see an absolutely, wonderful poem.

    Keep up the Good Work!!

Wonderfully written. The rhyme and rhythm flow smoothly without sounding forced. A heartfelt poem. I agree that angels are there, we may not be able to see them, but they do exist. Love it.

A nice (and heartfelt) expression. I think you're right- there are angels of all sorts out there... some disguised as neighbours, friends, and even the occassional stranger... if you only have the "eyes" to see them. Thank you for the warm-fuzzy this morning. A girl needed that!

The rhyming didn't feel forced and I liked the content. It is lighthearted, and nicely put.

    Cheers.
