Leonardo’s Secret
The day I painted the Mona Lisa
I painted a secret not to impart
Grand as the tower that is in Pisa
There is a secret that’s lodged in my heart
I carry that secret under my arm
And guard that painting where ever I go
If truth came out it could do me great harm
So I guard it well so no one will know
It’s time I told what I have been hiding
It’s time I revealed what my secret is
For days on end I have been deciding
After I tell you, you’ll know what it is
The painting is the way I see myself
I’m really a woman kept on the shelf

More than likely a nod of approval - or not.

This is a fun piece. Thanks so much for entering my contest!

No matter how you write a sonnet it is always such a delight to read. Love, humor, sadness, any subject you use turns into gold. Are you really rumplestiltskin?
