Leonardo’s Secret

Leonardo’s Secret

The day I painted the Mona Lisa
I painted a secret not to impart
Grand as the tower that is in Pisa
There is a secret that’s lodged in my heart

I carry that secret under my arm
And guard that painting where ever I go
If truth came out it could do me great harm
So I guard it well so no one will know

It’s time I told what I have been hiding
It’s time I revealed what my secret is
For days on end I have been deciding
After I tell you, you’ll know what it is

The painting is the way I see myself
I’m really a woman kept on the shelf

I wonder what Leo would have said?. More than likely a nod of approval - or not.

What one can do with a sonnet. Smooth flow and good rhyme. Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela

You won't believe this one ...

This is hilarious. I have a block on erotic content and when I went to look at your poem, it said it was blocked due to erotic content.

I have a question about this line though:

After I tell you, you’ll know it was is

is that what the line is supposed to say?

    Anyway, congrats on your trophy.

I'd still like to know ...

what trigger the erotic content block. There's nothing here to do that that I can see. I think the mods need to look at this and figure out what's going on.

Considering that many think that he used his own image as the model, this may not be too far off. This is a fun piece. Thanks so much for entering my contest!

Amera, I think the secret was lodged inside her dress and she was spilling the beans. LOL Loved the pastie or nipple ring, whatever they call them. No matter how you write a sonnet it is always such a delight to read. Love, humor, sadness, any subject you use turns into gold. Are you really rumplestiltskin? You weave gold from anything you touch. This is another marvelous sonnet from you and the picture had me laughing so hard. Where did you get that one. Leonardo would love it! I don't think anyone could keep you on a shelf. Thank you for sharing another masterpiece. Best wishes in the contest. Love you my friend, Joyce

Joli travail. D'un blond vénitien
My dear, How exquisite Leonardo paints, the words you paint are exceedingly classical that they shall redeem much in worth as his painting. The humour he presented to us, selecting an ordinary woman. I should say, that you are no ordinary woman. Lovely wording, it needs to be stated in French. Lovely work. Titian

lol. Great humorous write. I love the way the pic is animated. The ending was good, too. Thought provoking. Who really knows if Leonardo was painting as he saw himself? Anything is possible. Though, that doesn't change that the Mona Lisa painting is still a great painting in history. Good luck in the contest.
