David standing on rock, provided for,
but plagued by gnats of grievances,
enemies tiptoeing through forest;
human weakness, his great lonely sense
of need still fluttered in his heart.
Words; the ability to express
that sudden and fell swoop of spirit
to spirit itself. Language to speak,
to chisel, to paint, to scratch
on parchment, to sound out like
heartbeat Morse Code,like little bleeps
sent out into the Universe, riding energy,
pumping on lasers.
Truth to arcing from tips of fingers,
like flaming finger burning holy
in Moses so he could know
without doubt.
Oh, that we could know, poet,
what frequency our hearts speaks.
We only know, pen friend, that each poem
seeps through to consciousness
to be borne into the eclectic ether
of literature, we bow our heads over
looking for that one last great penning
that will prepare God for silence
of our voice.
You, scribe, like all serious poem-makers,
shall writhe and write all the days of our lives
like born again mini-prophets
who have heard The Answer and command:
Write as if your life depends upon it,
as if any mercy available to you
come from a God who has heard
and given you images ~ no ~ visions
of phrases in order to preserve faith.
Psalm 40:11
Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy loving kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

Ok Carol...
the native angel spirit who spills such splender upon us like a miricle grace. You have gone and touched my weary heart...and touched my soul with grace..
not to mention the smile with a tear dripping my eye...and as Wanda (night Hope) said;
Sighhh...No one can really claim to have had a tribute paid them until YOU have penned their song, my Sister. Good luck in the contest, Sweetie. Happy birthday to Albert, too. Be well, Poets & Scribes. Wanda
My words;
And I have pity for those empty and lost souls here on AP and everywhere.
whom never have gazed up the beauty of your spirited heart...
it is only then
they will see
the splender of wisdom and beauty to your poerty
Thank you so much for this poem I will cherrish this and all the others today...here and in my heart
for you Poetess

thank dear friend. You knew I admired you and I felt compelled to do a good job expressing what your poetry means to me. There are so many fine poets on this site...what a credit they are to those who founded it. I wish to make it better and so I really push myself to try and let those people on my favorites list how important their words are to me. again, I meant every word.

Deep in spirituality and from the mouth of god himself allows us the gift of the written word. So beautifully conveyed here in this poem and I thank you for sharing it with me...
God bless you and good luck in the contest...

Oh yes...if we allow it, inspiration comes from that place of love...and we , as poets, need to work hard to find ways to express that as well.
