Along a crimson creek
Grows a shriveled bloody rose
From torn and shattered stem
Thorns drip a deadly brew
A dry and brittle bud
Spews forth a noxious fume
Who’ll put their lips upon
This bloody shriveled rose
Who’ll care for this lost soul
Which life’s dagger has sliced into
Author notes
I wrote what I felt. I don’t know if it’s poetry but it is a feeling, or perhaps a longing.

PLEASE do not remove your entry. I do plan to give you quality commentary, and I am sorry it has taken me this long. to even say this much. This is easily the hardest contest I have judged, if you did not win, then that means only just slightly more than nothing, as far as this judge is concerned.

wow the imagery in this is amazing. And the metaphor of the withered rose, it conveyed so much pain and sadness that you felt. And I care for this lost soul, because it is stronger than it feels right now, and will use that strength to break free from the binds of the darkness that are so often iron clad.

In this plane of spacetime where we are trapped in prisons of matter and energy we cannot avoid to suffer and be miserable. We have to take the poison and abuse and finally die to escape the conjurings of this illusion. But we will be lead to victory in the realm of Light by The Light. We cannot seriously hope to remain unscarred or in some cases even avoid being beaten to pulp, incinerated or ripped apart. But this treacherous and agonizing universe WILL most definitely come to an end. While we suffer we must focus on The Light and help others to do the same. It is our Source and Destiny. Stay strong and take care,
U

I'll put my lips to poison
and drink the bitter cup
I'll tenderly destroy all
which inside burns disrupt
I'll pin the rose to tresses
of fragrance and of soft
to show the rose its splendor
in chambers of Love's loft
