Wavering haze of heat
Like a gauze mesh over the sands
Burning sunlight
Deep blue sky
Lazy white clouds
Float on by
Ocean of radiance, deep and blue
Pure white sands on the strand
Gritty between my toes
Warm ocean current
Rustles her hair
Eyes close, shadow over the face
The sun sinks towards the west
My soul shimmers in the waning light
Blood red sunset splashes the sky
I walk up to the silhouette
Of a tall palm tree against
The coral-red clouds of the setting sun
The intense light stings my eyes
Winds rustle
My breath is short
My mind is spinning
Like a wheel out of control
Images press themselves on my mind
Voices in the air
The cool scent of dusk
Fades from my memory
Author notes
I'm trying to evoke visions with this poem, basically I'm describing a day on a trouble island, with a sunset.
