Pivotal moments
life turns on a dime
alternative realities
spawning all the time
Choosing what is easy
instead of what is right
relieving for the moment
but makes a heart contrite
Endless possibilities
forks dividing in the road
thinking on what could have been
is such a heavy load
God, I hate decisions
depression and regret
propogating suffering
and hearts that don't forget
Author notes
I'm skirting around what I want to say about my specific personal decisions and their outcomes. This came out instead... go figure.

Great write, every decision we make changes our lives, that is what I believe. Thank you for entering and good luck.

I liked this a lot. I'm not usually one for rhyme (maybe because of how much I abused it when I was younger), but you did a great job with this poem. I loved the line: life turns on a dime. that was great.
and the last stanza really pulled it all together. great work. -
Your rhyme is really strong and the feeling of regret is expressed well. I feel the third stanza could be made a bit stronger ...the idea of forks, upon forks, in the road...felt that way as I read it, but the words don't quite convey that. Just a sense I had. A good solid write and your author note makes clear the reason for no specificity in 'what' decision...apparently all decisions give you a pain in the ...ahem, head. LOL...Good luck in the contest. Peace, Rhonda

Yeah. ALL decisions freeze my brain. The third stanza was a cheap rhyme and it did go through quite a few rewrites. It seems sometimes the water finds its own level and that's where it went. Is it egotistical to only write for contests. There always seems to be one that fits what I want to say.
