Despair reigns all around me, and I cry,
As homeless men and women search in trash,
As children grow up fast and act too rash,
As soldiers die so patriots can lie.
The state of nature looks a little grim,
And Mr. Freud pokes in his head a lot,
And "c ya, bitch!" means, "please, forget me not;"
Our little world is not so priss and prim!
So, are we fixing wrongs? I think, perhaps,
But only when I see good being done;
Surprisingly, it happens once a while,
As college kids hold rallies and run laps,
As scouts clean up a town and still have fun...
These sights help me hold down distress' bile.
Please tell me what you think

Really sweet poem on a good topic. I like the Freud and "c ya, bitch!" lines, which remind me of people's friendly convorsations in school. lol. The last few lines sound a littel forced, but the whole poem is stellar. Can't wait to see you once school starts!!
