A Beautiful Death

Death -
   what a beautiful word.

To die with you
   is all I ask.

Sing my requiem,
   place me in my casket.

Lay me in a mausoleum,

where my bones shall rest forevermore.

Place anemones
   upon my grave.

Mourn my life,
   celebrate my death.

My twisted mind
   pleads for this sweet relief.

I wish for the tomb,

   I long for the crypt.

Over your corpse,

a dagger is at my heart.

It pierces my chest,

   crimson blood pouring out.

My morbid wish comes true,

the end is so very near.

Dying,

   sleeping forever.

It is a beautiful thing.

Author notes

This is based roughly off of the end of Romeo and Juliet. (When Juliet finds Romeo dead and stabs herself.) It basically describes someone committing suicide because of their lover's death.

    Wow

I really love this poem, and I can actually sort of relate to it. When my girlfriend left me, I just felt like dying. Although i'm still really depressed about it, I don't really think about suicide much anymore. Anyway, great write!

    "Mourn my life,
    celebrate my death."

I don't know why, but I felt that just ending it with the "sleeping forever" would make it better. Hm... I don't know, that's up to you.
I really like how you wrote this, and I actually did not think of Romeo and Juliet until you mentioned them. Now I see the resemblance. Great job!

      Thank you for your comment!
I tried ending it on that line, but it seemed too abrupt - like it was missing something. I'm not really sure. It just seemed. . . bare. Thank you for the advice, though. I appreciate it. ^^
