We are all trying so hard to be perfect
"Super-cool" or "smoking hot"
We lose track of everything we are
To be everything we're not
In childhood, in the Spring,
We learned people fall in life
Some chose to bounce back, flourishing
To grow tall despite their strife
Others with hearts hardened to the sun
Sighed and languished in the shade
No longer vibrant, ceasing growth
As warm green turned to polished jade
If there's one thing we have learned
It's that you cannot stop the Fall
But you can control the Spring
When you hear September's call
Permit a humble posy to pose a question in this prose:
As Winter wanes and Spring and Summer fade
What will you become when next you fall
Flow'ring tree, or stony jade?
Author notes
The ending's a bit touchy, but I couldn't bear to part with it.

'Permit a humble posy to pose a question in this prose:' is possibly the best alliterative bit i've ever encountered. that totally made my day.

I like the analogy you use here. Falling over obstacles in life and how we use them to help us grow or becoming rigid stone, unteachable and unmoveable. I like the lines "you cannot stop the Fall, But you can control the Spring." If I understand you right you are saying that we may not be able to stop circumstances but we can control the rebound or recovery. I like where this took you, and the original way you presented it. Very well done. I loved the rhyme and easy rythm as well.
