Pregnant with my daughter,
I had to catch a bus to take me to the hospital,
where I was to have a six month scan and an antenatal appointment,
I waited at the bus stop for nearly 35 minutes,
I traveled for another 23,
Suffice to say I was bursting for a wee by time I got off the bus,
Baby pressing against my bladder and that bumpy ride.
After I got off the bus I thought I'd call in the co-op for a magazine and a bar of chocolate to have in the waiting room, Plus my craving was for polo mints and I ate about 5 packets a day and at that moment I remember needing some badly.
Anyhow I bought my things pushed the change into my pocket and walked as fast as my weak bladder would allow.
I remember that wee so clearly, the relief I hadn't peed my pants was almost overwhelming. Anyway there was no loo roll in the cubicle so I reached into my pocket for a tissue, wiped myself and went to wait for my name to be called.
Anyway I went into the doctor, who was all white and clinical, in my little gown that didn't quite reach. The doctor told me to just lay back and relax, well next thing I know he looks at me with laughing eyes and says "We don't take these here love". I could of died there in his hands where 2 co-op green shield stamps they must have stuck to the tissue in my pocket and then stuck to me in the loo.
I've never been more embarrassed in my life.

Green shield stamps became addictive...often I would buy things I didnt want/need to complete a book. That doctor was probably telling that story for years to come
