This is my human condition
I'm bordering on malnutrition
Straining for a foothold
To defend a failing position
'Cause I'm an actor
But I can't seem to find an audition
Calling the electric company
To ask for an extension
I'm just under so much tension
'Cause I sacrifice blood, tears, and perspiration
To pay my dues to this great nation
Competing for low wages with the Mexicans and Asians,
But it's not their fault
They're just happy that we'll pay them
So now our number one cash crop is job exportation
For the purpose of third-world exploitation
And our president... is bent
On democratic domination
Of every country with hands
In petroleum reservations
Fuck energy conservation
This is status-quo preservation
The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor,
Is more
Than a casual observation
But despite the hurdles, you'll never cripple my determination
'Cause I have hopes and dreams that are bigger than this steel shop
And I won't stop, or drop
So let's roll with what we've got
This last thread of dignity
Is preventin' me
From standing in line for government food
When I know there are soldiers' families
That need discount cheese
A shitload more than I do
It's not that I'm anti war,
I'm just anti-being lied to
When you purchase politics at Walmart
You can't just take them at face value
Don't believe everything they're sellin' you
I'm tellin' you
We have people who want to legalize drugs
That kill more people than our guns do,
And yet more, who want to outlaw guns,
So the criminals will have an edge on you.
Lawyers who will prosecute, if you shoot
A rapist in your house, who has a stranglehold on you
What's the world we live in comin' to?
We have child molesters leading churches
And Churches bombing clinics
Because someone went inside
And made the hardest decision of their life in it
It's a damn shame isn't it?
A grown man, protesting soldier's graves
He rants and raves
How God hates gays,
And has the nerve to preach that Jesus saves,
We have artists entertaining children
By singing about killing police
And we wonder why the degradation
Of society will never cease
We hate the brave souls who guard us in our sleep
While the media uses weapons of mass distraction
To herd us all like sheep
To the newest attraction
'Cause thermal expansion,
Polar contraction,
That can't be happenin'
Global Warming goes away, if you just ignore it
It's liberal propaganda
We should blame Al Gore for it,
Couldn't be that we're cutting down the rain forest
To make room for wealthy, would be
Amazon resort tourists
The richest, buying out the poorest.
This is my human condition
I'm bordering on malnutrition
Fighting everday, for the chance
To advance my sad position
And no matter what resistance
I am always gaining distance
Because I have hopes and dreams that are bigger than this steel shop.
And I will never stop.
Never.
I'm bordering on malnutrition

I hate my job, but I won't always, because I will never give up on getting out of this 2 star town.

Great poem... Beautifully written!I really, really love this part, and the way you show the hypocrisies the world advertises:
"A grown man, protesting soldier's graves
He rants and raves
How God hates gays,
And has the nerve to preach that Jesus saves,
We have artists entertaining children
By singing about killing police
And we wonder why the degradation
Of society will never cease

While the media uses weapons of mass distraction
To herd us all like sheep
To the newest attraction"
You're a great poet!
Thanks for entering!

This is awesome, so dynamic. It flows great, especially when read aloud. This is definitely one for Def Poetry Jam. Fight the power, man.

I really like this poem. I think it is so lyrical- great flow and great passion as only true angst could write. Lovely.

This is the shit! Spoken word at it's finest. The problem with writing spoken word is that those who read cannot feel the meter of your tongue. I feel it! I breathe it. It is poetry and fuck the masses who don't understand. You gotta live it to know it. Yup! You got it baby. I had no doubt. You have "the gift". Brilliant! I wish you had a mic, I would love to hear this memorized, and spoken by you.
LOVED IT!
Much Love Always ♥

'an' actor?
I don't really feel the flow.. I kept getting tripped up as I tried to read it.. I think this could become good.. but you need to look it over a little...
But I'm not huge on politics anymore so I automatically shut my door for these kinds of things... I used to be all up in them in highschool....

thank you, totally missed that typo, when I read it out loud, it flows really well, it's kind of fast paced, almost like a rap really

OBVIOUSLY you must bring this over tonight and read it out loud... I've been here all day.. and been reading stuff.. and messing on a computer.. so It might just be that...
