Forever Broken

Innocence,slashed and torn
Thrown to the side like an old wash rag
Feelings of despair and vuneralbility
They've accompanied her for years
Pushed so far back, only to re-surface..
An ugly blemish on ones life
'Normal' is what she never was
and 'normal' now is what she'll never be
Although she suffered physichally
her younger sibling is forced to deal with it
Mentally, and internally
She can only hope this blemish is not contagious
If it were this little family would be..
forever broken

Wow, this is quite a powerful poem. It speaks to me about the aftermath and the long lasting affects of abuse. I have a friend that always says 'normal' is just a setting on the dryer. Everyone's view of normal is so very different. Thank you for sharing.
