There you go
again the goodbye.
My soul filled
with pride
and anguish once more.
Soldier man
doing your time,
never forget
first
you were mine.
Raised you up
to be a good man,
want you to stay
always
my little boy.
War...
is what
you're headed for.
Maintaining our freedom
the best that you can.
My heart hurts
to see you go,
will this be
the last time
I see your loved face?
Holding you close
inside my heart
as I watch
you
once more depart.
"I'll be OK, Mom,
really I will.
I won't say goodbye,
I will see
you in a year."
Holding you close
inside my head.
All the while
my mind filled
with great dread.

Such mixed emotions! You are one of the multitude of mothers who send their boys to be men. I identify with you, since my own boys could choose that path as well. Best wishes for his safety and your peace.
