Do you remember when we used to go to Kalimna Park?
Do you remember when time always went too slowly and there was never anything to do?
Do you remember when we got lucky and we were allowed to go to Kalimna Park and play on that old cannon? I don’t know why it was there; it was rusted and covered in dirt and insects. But I always thought it was fun.
I don’t know why we played on the cannon, or what we played. But I know it was hardly ever a cannon.
Do you remember what games we used to play on the cannon?
I keep forgetting more of the games all the time. I can vaguely remember how much I liked going to the park with you, when it was summer holidays and it was hot and there was nothing at all to do.
I vaguely remember the long days looming ahead of me, hoping and searching for something to come along and entertain me. So different now.
I vaguely remember that we did anything, played anything to occupy us. And I remember that it was fun sometimes.
I think I remember when our imaginations failed us as well. When we were bored and hot and cranky.
But when I try to remember the cannon now, it’s so vague and I wonder if it ever existed.
I went back to Kalimna Park looking for you and I couldn’t find the Cannon.
I guess it was dangerous and they took it away.
Do you remember the cannon in Kalimna Park because sometimes I find it hard to remember and I wonder if it ever really existed?
Can you still remember things like that because sometimes I find it so hard to remember you and I wonder if you ever really existed?
Author notes
