Lying quietly,
Mocking me in its silence.
A ring heard no longer
But waited for.

Videogames lie in fear
Of never being played again.
Sugary treats rot away in darkness,
A long-ago favourite.

You sat there,
And I? Here.
Once upon a time
Once upon a memory.

Once n every while
My fingers remember a pattern,
Traitorously trace it through,
Ring, ring, ring…

Forever never lasts,
But I cannot begrudge that.
Fly away and never return,
Never remember, never look back.
