The Blue Hour

Missing image

    in the incandescent
indigo iris
    of twilight

hangs the frangipani fragrance
          of innocence spent

          sapphire scintillations
    alight        in frivolous flickers

igniting ecstatic eruptions

                        of
                        aphrodisia

Your pennings never cease to amaze me. I haven't done that kind of detail work in so long, I'm starting to truly believe my muse is gone for good. This in the midst of chaos surrounding me at every turn; I will be moving (again) in another two weeks and don't think I will have access to a computer for some time. Maybe I'll just hang it up. I hardly mind that you've trumped me about fifty million times now, but I am frustrated with myself that I can't seem to get up to speed (damn writer's block!)

Despite my rambling, though, I don't think a more perfect poem could have been created for this picture. This piece is absolutely beautiful, elegant in its touches of eroticism and passion, which lay just below the surface. And that ever-growing, beautiful vocabulary... "frangipani"... (you better be glad I know what frangia are!) I'd have given you gold, twice over. Tell Tim I'm not mad at him for not doing so.

Hope all is well with you, my friend.

    Many blessings,

    Raven Aurora

"the frangipani fragrance of innocence"...that's so beautiful and how beautifully you write blue, Mary. I remember some blue hours too and your poem made them come alive in my eyes again. This one is a class act - deep and soft and blue - and I loved it. Congrats on the trophy, Mary girl
