you had to leave-
this I know.
But who said you could?
who gave you permission?
You may be Absent
from this Earth
But yet you live on
in my heart- Forever
Without you near
things just are not the same.
One day, I am sure
I will take my leave too-
Then don't you see?
Together we will be
A.W.O.L.
Watching over those
we love and left
behind.
Author notes
Inspired by something my son, Justin said today....
For all that have passed on before me. My Grandma, Dad, Larry... and many others that I have not named, but are included in this write.

Thank you for this entry, I enjoyed the read. The last stanza was my favorite, even if it wasn't really supposed to mean much the spaces at the beginning of the last line brought the poem to another level for me. Apoligies if that doesn't make sense

I am glad you felt at piece after reading it, I felt the same peace after writing this one.. Made me realize that those we love, are just a.w.o.l. but will always be in our hearts... and one day we will join them too. I knew that before, but for some reason this piece just brought it all home for me.

This is so true! How can those we love leave us behind with broken hearts? How can they dissappear from our lives and not our hearts?
Love,

I really love this piece. I think it expresses several of the emotions we feel when we lose someone we love - that little bit of anger and disbelief: "Who gave you permission?" then the ache of missing that person: "Without you near
things just are not the same." and finally acceptance and happiness that someday we'll be together again:
"Together we will be
A.W.O.L.
Watching over those
we love and left
behind."
A beautiful job on this!

A VERY BEAUTIFUL PIECE, INDEED - FROM A VERY BEAUTIFUL WOMAN!
I thought this was about LionsLove as you've written may emotional, heartfelt, and soulful pieces about him - or was it about your first love who I believe is waiting for you up in Heaven, too? Whomsoever it is about it was a fine piece, indeed - and I THANK YOU - as always for sharing it with me! on this very Blue Monday!
Love & Peace!
Earl.
