September

September trees
that lose their leaves
of yellow, orange and red.

September breeze
after the first hard freeze
blows thoughts into my head.

Of sun dog skies
and fresh apple pies
and wind chills in the snow.

Of snow stormy days
with a slick icy glaze
and chocolate chip cookie dough.

Of frozen puddles
and hugs and cuddles,
lying by the fire.

Of football games
and learning new names
as we practice with the choir.

September days
are part of this maze
that we travel through day by day,
reliving memories
and creating some too...
searching for friends that are true.

I love the smell of apple pie and baking cookies in an over warm kitchen with steamed over windows and who could turn down an cuddle in front of the fire. Great write about the warmth of autumn.
