Never Shall I Say Goodbye

There are a few words missing,
from the list of my vocab,
Realize I am not Einstein,
my mind could use rehab.

The words, "I do not love you"
and "goodbye" have disappeared.
Ingrained in my memory,
your words of sweet love seared.

Do not know where these word went,
as I search for them in vain.
They seem to have been replaced by,
please come dance with me again.

I must need a lesson learned,
just to find each missing word.
And say them with clear meaning,
to rise above to be heard.

I search the dictionary,
for my thesaurus does no good.
I shall never say "goodbye",
even though I know I should.

To say "I do not love you",
I just can not comprehend.
Those words would have no meaning,
if spoken to my dear friend.

These words will not pass my lips,
nor will they ever cross my mind.
Friends like we shall always be,
the lasting forever kind.

    Hello my sweet friend
A never ending challenge~ when it comes to loving
I agree with the lines as they will never cross my mind~~ for friendship was there first and always will be!
If it is meant to be.. it will happen, if not, it may just be a blessing as friendship is sometimes even better
As always, your tender heart has penned a beautiful, sad but hopeful poem!
As I truly understand all the emotion that it derives from!
Thank you so much for entering this wonderful poem in my contest
    Linda

Love is an action, a choice, a thing that we do... wonderful reminder that we may choose to love, even the unlovable, and as you point out friendships can be forever, if founded in Him who is also forever. Well writen. Michael

    How true

True love does not depend on it being returned. Thats how Jesus loved us that even when we are enemies and in rebellion, he loves us. I often tell young folks that if you can "love" someone then turn later to hate them, you never truly loved them at all. True love, the Love of God and from God can never change or die. I know people this day that I love and cry for though they hate me deeply. I just cannot hate them or stop loving them. So I know personally your words here are true. God bless you my friend, Mark

Dear Mark, I could not agree more with your thoughtful words. I don't know how people come to hate those they once loved. You may be right when you say they really didn't love them in the first place. I try to remember the good in the other 2 times I loved in my life. Your words are always so encouraging and full of God's love. You take care and take care of yourself. Blessings to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you there my friend. Sandy

such a heartfelt poem of love. I have felt the same way at times, and I pride myself in having a good vocabulary. It can happen to the best of us when we are in love, loss for words is just part of the package. great write and good luck in the contest.
