"As the city slumbers"

As the day twists into night,
and the lights come on in town,
The dusty papers set alight,
by the old homeless clowns,

For just like in the circus,
A laughing stock the are,
do they even serve a purpose,
splashed by passing cars,

A junkie wonders aimlessly,
A scene of disarray,
may I have a ciggie please,
fuck off bitch you can pay,

The outside world so ignorant,
Of the extremities of night,
The drunks like demons won't repent,
By day all is alright,

As nine to five clicks slowly by,
The night just hides away,
hidden dangers left to lay,
Safety... is by day

Please tell me what you think
