Translucent miracles slip effortlessly through the air
With no set destination or predetermined path.
A formation moulded by nature’s contents,
Creating a form of beauty we have forgotten to appreciate.
There is no scheduling or time limits;
One of the few things the human species cannot control.
Rain holds no remorse and no compassion,
But expresses pure and raw emotion.
It is the blanket of a lovers kiss,
Slipping freely down their naked bodies.
It is substitute of tears,
Adding to a funerals tenderness.
It is liquid dollars,
Falling on the parched land in desert weather.
Rain is the careless individual,
Who ruins an outdoor ceremony.
Supple water falls freely from a place unknown.
It’s the inspiration of a painters picture,
The lubrication of soft skin.
Rain is the darkness of a dreary night.

A Feast of Figurative Language
It is not often that we find such a tour de force:
without seeming to be so, so smoothly do they fit, so naturally do they follow, but one after another we have nine metaphors for rain! One of them, "Rain holds no remorse and no compassion" is a special kind of metaphor called a personification.
If that were all, it would be sufficient for a spotlight spot but it is not. We have the autonomy of rain that humans cannot control.
It is in fact, many things, the desperately-needed help in times of drought, saving crops; it is a dichotomy of good and bad, comforts for people, and the ruin of outdoor events, and ends with sorrow of dark gloom. Altogether a complete view of rain that far surpasses our usual awareness of this weather phenomenon.
A serious contender!
