The girl stares,
searching her mother's saccharin smile
and glazed eyes
for some kind of warmth.
It means so little
when every loving word
is said with no inflection,
no emotion.
These gestures
are only automatic,
a response to society's conditioning.
She doesn't even move her gaze
from the television screen.
Love should be more than
sugar substitutes
in cold coffee.
Author notes
Uh... yeah. This I just wrote. I don't know how I feel about it, if I'm happy with how it came out or not. Comment/critique is appreciated.

Very nice, I really like this.
Love should be more than
sugar substitutes
in cold coffee.
This is so true and I can really relate to this.
