As a phrase wakens emotions within,
Slowly, my muse spills all over my quill,
Blooming the prompts to poetic roses.
I place the fruit of my labors before
Talented friends to read, judge and comment.
Anxious to know if at least one of them
Enjoyed a couple moments through my words.
Sometimes, an applause ushers in such cheer
Sending a smile into my waiting heart.
Glint of a trophy will always bring warmth,
Also gratefulness to pals for support.
Missing a trophy makes us feel some pain,
But also joy reading ones better penned.
Always, the real gold is in the pleasure
Blooming in heart when you write, and it's read.
Author notes
Prompt - How would you feel when you win (or lose) a trophy in a contest?
The poem has four stanzas - each painting a different progressive stage of entering a contest.
1st stanza for being inspired by the prompt and penning an entry; 2nd for submitting the entry and awaiting results and comments; 3rd when the poem wins laurels, and 4th when a poem falls short and misses a trophy...
It was such joy to write this one from my heart..
