Closing the curtain on a past life
cutting a swathe through the past strife
Sight is blurry yet hope is strong
the nights are short, and the days are long
Paths arise by the choices we make
and in the end the future we forsake
Hands separate with plans to unite
in a world where might once made right.
Tears may be shed by the eyes of man
when all else in life fails the plan
So as I depart I give this advice
heed it, I shall not tell twice
Be yourself and no one other
someone else not worth the bother
Trust your heart and love your friends
for in the end your heart they’ll mend
And with my final words I say goodbye
it’s all I do, before I die.
Author notes
I wrote this with a good friend of mine....we just went back and forth....line by line and then in the end came out with this...we are both going away to college this year so this became the apparent theme.
Please tell us what you think
