Hints of Fall at Sunset

Missing image

The air has a chilly feel to it

             Though flowers are still blooming

By the lakes' pathway and cottage

That nip in the air has one feeling

The frost may come early this August

Sounds of the Canada geese flying south

Make one wonder if nature is telling them

To go  to southern climates early

All the flowers so lovingly planted

May have a shorter season of bloom

Cottage living is like that one year

Once in awhile, I say to myself

As I stand out and look at the sunset

Light tangerine orange, the sun it's center

And our perennial swans in their glory

             Swimming about the shore

It was home to them yearly

As mates they made this place

             Even lovelier

The wind surfer is ready to come in

Sunsets, sunrises, a cabin on the lake

             Who could ask for more!

Nature around and my wife for company

We just may stay the winter

With plenty of wood, food and all

                I say, This is living!

Author notes

With all the work to make cabin life for a summer so beautiful who is to say if one is prepared, to make it home year round....That is what this cabin owner thinks as he sees the beauty...

Lovely poem. Nice imagery and discription. Makes one take time to think and reflect.
