crystal eyes, monoxide skies,
reflected in your cheap disguise.
breathe in deep, be still and sleep,
don't listen as the others weep.
epitaph of stone and silence,
memories, alone and tense.
drifting dreams, unheard screams,
fabric of life torn at the seams.
sink to earth, find what it's worth,
discover and join the new rebirth.
epitaph of stone and silence,
new disguise, a clone so dense.
falling fast, recall the past,
try to remember when you lived last.
time has gone by, but don't you cry,
you'll live again until you die.
epitaph of stone and silence,
cold dry bones, barrier fence.
years have lapsed, your soul relapsed,
your moral guidance has collapsed.
pass on through the fire flue
to where you know your death is true.
meet the ruler and wish it was cooler
in the realm that keeps getting crueler.
find a way out through a water spout,
return to the living, full of doubt.
find your soul and make it whole,
try to fit in to a world too full.
but it's too late, so rise to the gates
in the clouds till the end of your fate.
and find your epitaph of stone and silence,
all alone, no more false pretense.

Warmest congratulations, powerful imagery, Lib x x

I really love your intricately woven rhyme scheme and your use of internal triplicate rhymes that reminds me in a strange way of some of my own poems. This is quite the suggestive spiritual poem that seems to pass from one incarnation to the next in a journey of endless self-discovery. Best of luck in the contest with this terrific piece.
