Stronger

You lied, you cheated, wore me down,
Gave me nothing but grief,

Gentle on the surface,

Evil buried underneath,

 

You never said you loved me,

Never showed you care,

You broke my heart so many times,

With affair after affair,

 

I supported you with your music,

Encouraged you with your band,

I showed you my devotion,

You never once held my hand,

 

You thought you were superior,

So sure I would obey,

When you threatened my family,

That's when I walked away,

 

You shouted and you ranted,

Insane that I broke free,

But it didn't take you long to find,

Another naive little me,

 

I hated you with vigour,

Felt like kicking you in the head,

When I realised you'd sold your soul,

Now I pray for you instead,

 

My life is so much better,

I know one thing now for sure,

I am a decent person,

And I don't need you anymore.

    Sometimes when I write I learn new things about myself. Dark poetry has helped me get through several breakups. Realized is spelled wrong and I'm neurotic about entries being proof read, being an English major myself. Thanks for entering and good luck.

    Great, great piece. I loved the ending, it shows that even after the most horrible of experiences, we can come out STRONGER rather than BROKEN!

    amazing! beats mines! I love the wording in this poem nothing to complex and is an easy read and it is filled with a lot of emotion

    wow! i really like this!! i love the rhyming, it was really awesome, i love the stanza,

    WOW so muct anger and feeling in this poem... this was wonderful I loved it so much.... (especially the part where you said that you wanted to kick him in the head... lol I laughed a little at that part.) very well written and thank you so much for entering

    Wow. You have captured my past relationship that I regret most. Very nice job here. I love how the 2nd and 4th lines rhyme. It gives it a sing-song feel, but at the same time, it doesn't. I hope that makes sense. I really like this one!!
    "You thought you were superior,

    That's when I walked away,"
    This part is my favorite, because the guy threatened me, my family, and my friends.

      Thank you. This is my ex who was a very unpleasant person to be around. I just couldn't see it at first but when he threatened my family it woke me up to the kind of person he was.
