If we had wings like
The birds of the air
If we had a sense of smell
Keen like a dog’s
If we had the strength
Of the lion
If we had the swiftness
Of the cheetah
If we had eyes like
The eagle that soars
If we had the height
Of the giraffe
If we had the voice
Of a morning bird
If we had the beauty
Of the peacock
Would we keep seeking to improve
On whom we are?
Would we be content
With whom we are?
Is it man’s infinite curse
To search and search
For perfection unattainable
