Lying in enternal bliss,
No bickering and fighting.
Heavens at my finger tip,
Air conditioning and touch sensitive lighting.
A sigh of relief as we arrive,
A huff as i through myself down.
Heaven is here at last,
'Cummon kids dont frown'.
But soon it starts again,
Reality Hits the fan.
The kids begin the bicker,
And 'hubby' opens a can!
'Shh i'm watching time team',
What we doin today?
My haven is destroyed,
In ever single way!
The kids just wont be quite,
My hubby just wont move.
Holiday... yeh right,
I'm gonna hit the roof.
So its all over now,
I'm back where i belong.
Home sweet home,
It feels like we haven't even gone!
Author notes

I really enjoyed reading this poem. Stanza three is awesome. That's usually how it starts, isn't it? Especially with my darling husband. LOL
Thanks for posting this warm hearted poem in my contest and all the best luck at judging. Cathy -

So true So true indeed

I love the rhythmic flow to this piece.
I really enjoyed the rhyme in this. It reminds me of the holidays at my house when I was a kid.
I only have one suggestion, and that's about the spelling of "threw" in this line.
A huff as i through myself down.

Exactly! It's like that!
You go on vacation and what you end up doing is trying to survive and get through it as best you can, with everything horribly inconvenient and finally you get to go home, which is a blessed relief!
A very funny poem that makes me smile!

Quite the fun-filled vacation, I must say. You make work seem like a holiday by comparison. Best of luck in the contest with this wonderfully funny piece.
