Considering that you entered this because I clearly stated not to enter anything too complex, I actually thought that this was hilarious. [Not this poem, but your motive] haha. Good Job actually though. Your IQ isn't pathetic, and I take everything back.

Is this a poem or just a grotesquely long list of facts? Really, I'm wasn't expecting Rainer Maria Rilke to pop up in this contest, but I didn't expect someone copying out a textbook about the different constituent states of the USA and centre-alligning it either.

    This says absolutely zero. Sorry.

  • wow, this is a great educational poem, probally one of the most history packed poems i've ever read on this site. Ecxellent job, great descrption of wisconsin definately sports here, and i hate sports lol.

  • Well, I'm a Texan, and I am thoroughly impressed by this. I don't even know most of this information, so wow. I haf expected this to be a bash piece!
But the title made me curious.
Did you know that Mormon elders wear sacred undergarments?
    Dead serious, it's kinda nutty.
Austin's official motto is "Keep Austin Weird"...
I was born in Alabama...(no banjo though...)

    • Howdy ya'll lol it was an honour to write this for the USA...Ever since I was a little girl I have had a soft place for America and I still do...I would never bash America and if I ever heard anyone doing so I would tell them to sling their hook lol...I now know a few more things about America thank you...Regards Hazel.

My contry tis made of thee

I love this piece, excellent references to the states and cities indeed.

Having lived in several of these states myself I must confess that I have a sweet spot in my heart:

"Phoenix is the State capital of Arizona
Known as The Grand Canyon State"

I so love Phoenix that I made it my home for five years and I do miss it so.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderfull piece and I do hope you send it to the president so that he may pass it on to our children in the schools and they might all go to bed smarter in the end.

I like it, I like it so!

    • Thank you for the lovely comment and for taking the time to read this....I felt I was taken on a journey through each State as I was writing this and it was such an honour indeed....I intend on sending this to the president and I fully hope he does decide to pass it on to children in schools and colleges....Also older people can be fascinated about this....Glad you like this....I notice you reside in Canada I have also written a poem on Canada too if your interested....Regards Hazel

    Amen

Our country is still the best their is in this world we must get our priorities and love back on track for all nations fall if we let greed and hate take the lead . We so need to join hands and let our government know we know the rules and beginning today we shall decide how it is to be run for our leaders have truly forgotten about those who makes this country the greatest ever . Its time for the tyccoons to be put out to pasture and feel what they have caused us to feel its time their piggy banks were broken and used up to get this country back on track .

It was ironic that as I sit here I have a guitar in my lap listening to (and trying to learn) Sweet Home Alabama for guitar, and that was the first state mentioned (I realize it is in alphabetical order, still found it interesting.)

It is wonderful for those who have lived in the US part or all of their lives to see the point of view of someone who has not, the things that stand out. I tend to forget to notice things so familiar, when i lived in Washington DC i rarely went to see any sights unless a visitor came to to town...so this reminds me to notice some things...very well done...thanks...PK

    Excellent

A very fine write; which reminded me of an old song:

    What Did Delaware?

What did Delaware, boys, what did Delaware?
What did Delaware, boys, what did Delaware?

WOW! Now this is truly amazing...all the wonderful facts on every state written so well...as I read them I smiled remembering some of the things I love so much about many of the states I have lived in. Honestly, you could put some of us who live here to shame, for I am sure many do not know as much as you have written on all the beautiful state that make up our country...truly a wonderful dedication to this beautiful country of ours...
Thank you, you have honored us all.
