Mid-August 07

Mid-August 07. For any who may be interested, 'Mid-August' 2006, is typed under this one.

Mid-August has been somewhat dull this year;
But a time of nature's development.
Bountiful, rich ripened, fruits did appear,
As plants plentiful, changes underwent.
The farmers, some fields, have started to plough,
And soon may those far-ranging rooks draw near;
Which the evening skies, with caws, could endow.
A sight, the twilight, many does endear.
Apples and plums are up for collecting;
Though cherries have, pretty well, passed away.
This summer has still fulfilled expecting,
Having witnessed, at least, the odd hot day.
Sings, this Mid-August, its annual tune,
That, quite often, it brings its yearly boon.

Seasonal Sonnet Memory Lane. This 'Mid-August', was first posted  into Allpoetry on: 17 August 2006.

Pretty well completed is the harvest,
Ev'ry year, it seems to get earlier.
The buddleia blooms are well past their best,
Like those moths, they're almost as brown and sere.
Seeds are rife in the black fingernailed ash;
Suspended they're hanging in clusters large.
Spreading algae, like a copper-mould rash,
Carpets streams, from the middle, to the marge.
Green rose hips, are now of their petals bare.
Burgeoning acorns are gaining some size.
Spare dandelion clock seeds float in air.
Small ball of hawthorn a crimson coat tries.
Sloe and elderberries, near dark as jet,
Are intent, in hedges, their fruits to set.
