How fair the flowr's

How fair the flowr's of early spring
their fragrances so fine,
That caused the lovely birds to sing,
their praises so divine.
How bright their dew-drenched petals gleamed
when kissed by dawning sun,
they sparkled like the Crystal stream,
That through the pleasant meadow'd run.
Yet beauty through the summers fled
as one by one the petals fall,
Till withered now and nearly dead
no hope for life remains at all.
the once so cheerful birds abandon,
the meadow that is now so still,
Dying flower's loose their companions,
as songbirds flee the winters chill

Take flight dear friends and may thy journey,
safely guide thee to thy dreams,
May the wind be always faithful,
and never a storm devour thee.
Fly on dear friends and tho I never,
Sing with thee as once before,
my voice shall follow thee in spirit,
And sing with thee forever more.
Farewell my friends, my prayers go with thee,
As you onward from me fly,
May your dreams live on forever,
for my hopes for such have died.
For you have wings to take thee higher,
I have roots that bear me down,
may you find the warmest sunshine,
as I within my winter drown.

Author notes

This poem is a representation of my classmates moving forward with greater opportunity than I had. I was once an Opera Major at Young Harris College, where the other children in that area are children of privilege. My roots hold me down with lack of funds to return, as their parents give them wings to pursue whatever path their hearts desire. I'm hurting for my lost dream, if none Can tell by this.

Who knows where the gentle breeze of heav'n may guide us?

Who can say that gifts (cherished in our hearts) must fail and decay?
For we cannot know future's bends and sways.
And though this tragedy be true, we cannot know,
Neglect of a seeming "lost dream" is more so.

Just loving your work! I love the way you write! Dari xxx

Breathtaking imagery! You have that poetic soul that shines through your writing. Fear not, your dream is not lost, you just have to work harder towards achieving it. In the end, it will be more satisfying than if it were thrown into your lap.

Nothing is wasted, everything is for a reason. This is quite beautiful even though it's sad. But when we move forward all of us leave something behind and as we look back we say 'if only' I am sure you have lots still to look forward to and the love of someone to share it with. Lovely poem.
