Gestures

A candle burning upon the church alter.
Remember those who have fall from us.
An embrace of another soul,
a hug to comfort the ill at heart.
A verse of poetic word upon a page,
a secret way to say "I love you"
All the gestures of our lives,
must be seen not as what they are,
but as what they can become.
In these things we do
dwell another part of us,
that we give away every day,
all for the sake of holding on,
to what keeps us wholly human.

Author notes

I wrote this while thinking about how my school won't let us hug each other. Those hugs we give each other in school where silent words like: "I love you" / "Good morning" / "Are you okay" / "wow you look pretty today"... ect. We are not hurting anyone by hugging.

Please tell me what you think

It is amazing to me how much of our rights have been taken away, and this is suppose to be the land of the free? They seem to try at every turn to make loving one another wrong. God is being taken from all of us...excellent poem, enjoyed reading this, thank you for sharing
