Under the wings of love

I’m free; I’m a bird that flies high above the sky,
I’m the breeze in a sunflower field
One morning the sunrise guided me to you
A man, a simple man. And I was instantly tamed
Trained to follow but the trail of your scent
To live under your shadow, tied to your strings
The puppeteer of my own will when it was all gone
And my only wish was to see you smile with the comb of my wings
I was free, but I’m imprisoned now, under the spell of your lips
Such magic semblance only of the purest voice, the most beautiful song
One afternoon the sun setting led a nightingale to you
And I was forgotten behind the melody of its own preciousness.
My fading warble was one more of the choir,
Behind the symphony of your new duet.
The day I left, rain poured down my body like silent tears
Once again in the wilderness, free, yet lonely
Time to open my wings to the wind, and let if fly along with me
To some place far; far away.

Not a bad write, tons of imagery and metaphor, though not exactly the most original thoughts. Good job, thanks for entering!

Nice written, with a lot of melancholy and yearning withing each penned line. To me tamed...hm...sound so nice and this is mostly not good for a bird, but it is for your poetry. Good used pictures, metaphors and words makes it easy to read and understand.

    I Liked this poem

This is refreshing and a new spin on equating love to the every day things we see in our world. I can feel the longing in this poem for unrequited love. I lkied all of this and wouldn't change any of this. The title is perfect for this. The first line sets this off very well and the last line sums it up beautifully. I enjoyed reading this.
