"Between the candle and the Star"
so they say..
Yet I feel so cold and lost in the dark.
Others bask in the warmth of love.
Ones they hold dear close and touching.
I see it but can not join in.
No warmth directed my way.
I am the outsider looking in.
The stray in the night they turn away.
"Toss it some crumbs but don't let it in.
Its might track in mud, it likes it outside."
Alone by habit or design?
Whats the difference, the effect is the same.
There is no flame that holds warmth for me.
Just the cold of the stars and the night sky.
"To be alone, without one to love, is a waste of the body.
But to not be alone, without one to love, is a waste of the soul."
I smile and walk off into the night
Shadows and spirits my comfort.
Author notes
Just a passing thought that kicked my muse off its lazy butt.
The quote < "To be alone, without one to love, is a waste of the body.
But to not be alone, without one to love, is a waste of the soul."
Not mine, line from a 70's show
