Maiden Voyage

Somehow I felt you must know
But then, there’s no way you could
I have come to you so easily
You must think I’ve made this trip before

I waited a lifetime for you
I’m afraid you didn’t notice my trembling
(Perhaps for your own?)
Embarking on new voyages with you

I have gone so willingly
Because I trust you to hold me
And guide me and not let me get lost
And because I want to go everywhere with you

If you never knew this was only for you
Is it any less a gift?
Someone told me there would be trumpets
But we all lose our cherries in silence

Please tell me what you think

    Evocative

I liked the nervousness of this piece, it reflects how a girl feels when it is 'her first time'.

well done,I like this poem alot because i think most of the important things in our life that end its always with a whisper or sometimes not even that.

wholy... "If you never knew this was only for you
Is it any less a gift?" What a punch-in-the-face awesome image. I keep reading it without the 'never' though. I wouldn't think that never knowing could devalue a gift, but KNOWING it was only for you could, if that makes sense. In the sense that, hey, I could have given this to ANYONE, but I chose you, as opposed to I had no choice in the matter, it was always yours it was simply in the giving that it was a gift. I hope I'm expressing that well enough.

I'm feeling a tad lovestruck these days, and I can completely identify with your piece. It's almost exactly the piece that I've been DYING to write.

It's a beautiful expression of love and devotion. It has that twinge of nieveité about it that I think we all get at the start of a new relationship. (maybe it's just me?) Everyone always claims to have found thier 'soulmate', but I think that falling in love is differently the same every time.

I have some trouble identifying with the last line though, it feels a little... I don't know, vulgar? in contrast to the rest of the piece which is so tender.

    reminds me of something

If you never knew this was only for you
Is it any less a gift?
Someone told me there would be trumpets
But we all lose our cherries in silence

I don't know what it is but, when I read your work I get a sense that you have seen inside my head and know what it is I like to read and where to take me. Great imagination.

Wow, beautiful in it's wording. I liked it all, but the last verse was exceptionally powerful in it's 'ending'. I don't know what else to say except I really liked this.
    Great!

I really enjoyed this.  The title is perfect and speaks volumes all its own. Falling in love(again) can be a bit of a daunting task but so enjoyable at the same time. Absolutely beautiful expression in this and the last line is exceptional. Well done.
