You take away pieces from others
gathering them in a wicker basket,
which you abandon at your discretion
in a dark alley miles away
from the person you took apart
You maintain yourself,
your lies, your deception
you treat others as if they
are your minions, instead of
your companions, and you
do nothing but hurt those around you
You are a chameleon
ever changing, never truly
seen, so hard to catch-
with a desire to catch you,
but I know it's best to let you go
for we do not reside in the same
habitat, nor can we find a niche together
You make time
only when you feel the need
to pick the minutes from your clock,
to waste them in your eyes
on someone you're not quite
in the right mood for
You only need, and never
ever even consider giving
yet you see yourself
as a mere victim in
all relationships that
you find yourself a part of
I allow them to behave in such a manner,
these people I have invested
years in my relationships with-
whom know so little in reality
about one another, and seem to
care, when it comes down to it,
not at all for each other
I can be as angry as I want to be,
but I've realized quite recently
that I really am to blame
for choosing these false friendships,
for surrounding myself with people
who use each other, abuse each other,
and are only around when it is convenient

Author notes
Quite recently, some friends no longer take the time to simply return a phone call. Or invite me to hang out, when they don't need a ride (since none of them drive). Or have time for their significant others, but not for friends who are moving to college in 2 weeks. And I'm done with it all. Years apon years of friendship down the drain it seems.
Just needed to vent.

Harsh but true. I like this, I think it relates a little to all friends everywhere. Not sure if you are directing it at just one friend, or all of us. However you direct it at all your friends very well.
I think we all have used people at times when its most convenient for us at one point or another wether we realize it or not.
