Archaic feelings grow intense
on ancient routes, where pure incense
and precious silk were merchandise,
a place built on the wise advice
of caring gods, whose blessings spread
turning grey rocks īto blushing red.

When my aunt went to Petra she showed me some photos and that captured my feelings exactly. It's really great and I like the way how you connected the lines to make a sentence (if you see what I mean ^^)

Thank you for your very nice comment, unfortunately I haven´t yet been able to visit Petra, but I can imagine that it is true what it is said. So I guess I have to go one day…

A very succinct poem and nicely done rhyme that tells us much about Petra. Thank you! I always appreciate a short rhyme.

Thank you for your nice comment. And special thanks for bringing Petra into the focus of my attention through your contest. There are so many miraculous places in the world which I tend to forget in my every-day-life. I loved diving into the world of Petra.
