So many mistakes I have brought to this world
So many heartaches and tears
Though in my defence lord, I ask you to see
How I’ve tried to improve through the years.
I regret many things that I did in my past
Looking back can bring so much pain
And yet it was love that caused damage at times
Oh virtue’s so hard to maintain!
Many creatures have given their lives for mine
As I ate of their flesh in my youth
A practise which now is abhorrent to me
As I grew up, I realised the truth!
As a mother, there are things that I wish I could change
Bad decisions and things I got wrong
But you know, at the time all I did was my best
My main sin was – I waited too long. . .
So dear God, as I send out this prayer to you
In the hope that you’ll understand
I ask your forgiveness as I carry on
Trying to follow the path that was planned

So convicting and soulful in the words you have penned here. I like the emotion and heartfelt pleas form within, with a remorse that can only come from truthfullness to ones self. WOnderful write.
